Unsolicited art commission offers targeting online artists
3 reports · first seen 2 May 2026 · last seen 29 May 2026
Scammers contact small-following artists on Discord and Twitter with unsolicited commission offers, using PayPal or email cheque as payment methods. The approach is typically a precursor to an overpayment or fake cheque scam, where the artist is left out of pocket after funds are clawed back.
How the scam works
Unsolicited social media contact offering paid art commissions, likely leading to overpayment cheque fraud or PayPal chargeback exploitation.
