Reddit Scam Pattern
Unauthorised card charges via compromised payment data
4 reports · first seen 13 July 2026 · last seen 15 July 2026
Victims discover unrecognised transactions on bank or payment accounts — often on newly issued or rarely used cards — without having received any verification prompt. Card data appears to have been obtained through undisclosed compromise rather than direct social engineering.
How the scam works
Card-not-present fraud using compromised payment credentials, bypassing standard OTP or transaction-confirmation controls.
